Hello everyone! I’m the author of the young adult fantasy series Monsters and Demons!

I was born and raised in Arizona. I was the girl living on the wrong side of the tracks in the Mexican barrios. I crossed the tracks every day to get to school. I was usually late every day, too, especially when a hundred car train decided to grind by. Outrunning dogs, getting undercover from drive by shootings, waving at police helicopters when they combed our neighborhood for felons, memorizing what AK-47’s sounded like on New Year’s Eve, and getting my butt to church every Sunday.

When my family and I moved away, we went up into the mountains, into the cold part of Arizona. Most people who go there like to go on vacation and retire. “Nothing happens there,” they say. We weren’t retiring. We were headed home. We drove past all the rich summer homes and straight onto the Fort Apache Reservation. I was going to be a high school freshman that year. No romantic prince showed up and there was no “Twilight” oh there’s a new girl! All the guys want her! More like, they took one look at me and ran off.

I got to go to Disneyland and California Adventure with the band. Some weirdo sitting on a curb took a picture of me, and some old guy was stalking me. Not creepy at all. I was almost kidnapped out of my work place, harassed by a literal madman who went to the rubber room at the end of summer, had it out with weird teachers who wrote porn and tried to give sex advice to underage kids, got evacuated for the Rodeo-Chedeski fire, bet my hair that I could teach my brother the clarinet in ten hours and won. I got to shave my teacher’s head at half time during the football game.

I headed up to Brigham Young University in Utah. It so happened that I lived near a lunatic asylum. I had no idea. One day, one of them escaped and nobody could find the person. Everybody was freaking. Well, I found him. He was headed right for my house. I raced him to my door. Roommates never locked the door, but decided to that night. It was like, KEEEEYYSSSS!!!!! You know, nobody believed me when I said there was a nut talking to himself and twitching outside.

I fell down my own basement stairs, smiled at the school president and sent him running into a corner, looked at a football player and he stuffed his whole head into his duffel bag, ran into a whole lot of weirdos, and finally graduated.

I started pursuing my writing dream with a vengeance and my adventures continue with new experiences and crazies all the time.
